December 2018- Ode to Evan Bryan

I created his name some 12 months prior

And I had spent the prior 10 years thinking about him, wondering what he would be like, wondering if he would be a he (lol), thinking and planning all of the quintessential father son activities while sprinkling in some modern edgy ones too (moto-X, BJJ, etc.) as time went on and I was exposed to nice and more luxurious things in life I filed each experience away not only to remember them myself but to ensure my Son knew of the experience and perhaps experienced it himself.

But this isn’t about me, just a little context 😊

So many names but there is only one- only one little boy who I have had the honor of calling my Son, only one who I have watched grow and develop from 1 second old to, on his 5th Birthday, 756,864,000 seconds old. He is only five and it has been a privilege and the most rewarding experience of my life.

Evan is such a sweet soul so caring and loving, first to offer to go last or let daddy have the big piece of candy he truly is selfless, especially for a 5 year old.  In this last year I have really seen his personality come alive, like I was, he is naturally shy but MAN has he come out of that shell. He is turning into quite the jokester and prankster, I love seeing his self confidence bloom and grow. His ability to pickup and retain information, especially language is insane, the kid has the vocabulary of a 30 year old lol. 

What a great time to be Father and Son to have this formative and life long lasting moments together. To both experience his growth and to guide it, and to a degree to see him guide mine. I wouldn’t be who I am today or where I am today without Evan, without his love and adoration for us the Big Boys I would be utterly lost.
